The Association of Maternal Glycemic Control with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Infants of Diabetic Mothers

چکیده
Background: Infants of Diabetic Mothers (IDMs) are at known risk for the development hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Echocardiography is essential diagnosis HCM, to assess left ventricular function, and degree ventricle obstruction, rule out structural cardiac malformations.
Objective: To study association maternal third-trimester glycemic level with HCM in IDMs.
 Study Design: Observational cross-sectional study.
Participants: 108 diabetic mothers Intervention: Third-trimester Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels were measured was done IDMs their first week life. Data analyzed correlations between various parameters.
Outcomes: diagnosed when absolute value Inter Ventricular Septum (IVS) ≥ 2SD from mean (5mm) Asymmetrical Septal Hypertrophy (ASH) IVS: LVPW ratio 1.3.
Results: 85% population had gestational diabetes, 55.6% them on diet control only. The HbA1c 6.69%. birth weight 3.1 kg. most common complication observed hypoglycemia (19.4%). Asymptomatic seen 52% ASH 25.9% population. found be significantly associated levels, hypoglycemia.
Conclusion: a frequent finding routinely screened by echocardiography. A significant positive our hence strict during pregnancy paramount significance.

A transient form of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has been previously described in infants of diabetic mothers (IDMs). The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence, natural history and pathologic features of this cardiomyopathy in symptomatic and asymptomatic IDMs. We studied 47 IDMs for evidence of cardiomyopathy. Among 24 symptomatic IDMs, five had marked septal hypertrophy with ech...
